Prof. Shao Guofan is a distinguished scholar holding dual professorial appointments at Northeast Forestry University and Purdue University (USA), serving as a PhD supervisor. He earned his Ph.D. from the Institute of Applied Ecology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. As a recipient of the National High-level Talent Program, Prof. Shao has long been engaged in research on land use, forest resource remote sensing, and digital forestry. He has served as the Editor-in-Chief of the internationally renowned journal International Journal of Sustainable Development & World Ecology and as an Associate Editor of the Journal of Forestry Research. He has also served as an overseas review expert for the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Honorary President of Changbai Mountain Academy of Sciences, an international expert for China's Natural Forest Protection Program, and Chair of the GIS Division of the Society of American Foresters. From 2021 to 2024, he was ranked among the World's Top 2% Scientists. He has published over 160 SCI papers in high-impact international journals, including Science and Nature.
